The Divine Energy Within

Discovering the Divine Energy Within: A Guide to Connecting with Your Inner Self

Divine Energy is believed to be a sacred force which connects everything and everyone in the Universe. It’s a spiritual concept used in the yoga discipline and many religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism.

According to these traditions, every living being, including humans, possesses the divine energy within. It’s also sometimes referred to as the Soul, the Higher Self, the Inner Light, etc. Basically, this energy is the part of you that connects you to God. In Hinduism, it’s called the Atman, or the individual self, and is considered to be a part of the larger divine consciousness or Brahman.

Why Seek the Divine Energy within

Even though we all have it inside of us, it’s not easy to access the Divine Energy. When we do it though, even for a little bit, we can get some amazing results. Some of the most common effects of connecting to your Higher Self are a feeling of joy and bliss, inner peace, a more profound understanding of yourself and the world, physical and emotional healing, a sense of purpose, and more.

When you connect to your Divine Self, you can get a very different perspective of yourself and everything around you. By constantly practicing awareness, you might see a better picture of what you want from life, find solutions to many of your problems, or realize that what you thought were problems are actually opportunities. Besides, connecting to the Divine Energy will make you feel more calm, happy, and emotionally balanced which in turn will inevitably improve your mental and physical health.

How to Connect to Your Divine Self

Since this concept is mostly associated with the yoga tradition, the answers on how to access the Divine Energy can be found in yoga practices as well. Here’re some of the techniques you can practice to connect to your Higher Self:

  • Meditation

There’re lots of different meditation techniques to choose from, and most of them are directed towards awakening your Divine Energy within. You can start a simple meditation by relaxing your body, concentrating on your breath, watching your thoughts and emotions as they come and go. The goal is to calm down the mind so that it’s easier to listen to what your Divine Self says.

  • Pranayamas (Breathing Techniques)

There’re yoga exercises that are focused solely on controlling your breath. The word “pranayama” literally means life energy control (“prana” can also refer to the divine energy). These techniques are great for boosting your energy, reducing stress, and increasing mindfulness. Some of the simplest pranayamas are Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), Kapalabhati (skull-shining breath), Ujjayi (ocean breath), etc.

  • Mantras/Prayers

Mantras are sacred sounds/words/phrases in Sanskrit used for connecting to God, similarly to prayers. Repeating a mantra daily will help you quiet the mind, cultivate inner peace and focus, and deepen your connection to the Divine. You can also use japa mala (a string of beads) for reading a mantra to concentrate better. You can choose an Indian mantra (such as “OM”) or even a familiar to you Christian prayer to start from.

  •  OM Chanting

This is an ancient group mantra chanting technique which was brought back to us by Mahavatar Babaji and Paramahamsa Vishwananda in 2007. The practice includes chanting the mantra OM in a circle (with the minimum of 3 people) continuously for 45 min. This yoga technique is very powerful as it activates the self-healing potential in all the participants and everything in the radius of 2km and helps awaken the Divine Energy within. You can find the existing OM Chanting circle in your city via the Bhakti Marga website.

  • Asanas and Mudras

This is what most people think of when hearing the word “yoga”. A flow of asanas (yoga postures) can help in balancing your inner energies and emotions. Mudras (yoga gestures) can also transform your energies, and promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Overall, these practices will be beneficial for discovering your Divine Self.

Conclusion

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about your True Self, awakening your divine energy within is the way to go. Finding and accessing the power that connects the whole Universe inside of you will bring many positive changes into your life. Apart from the yoga techniques described above, you can try to connect to your Divine Self in other ways, such as by saying a prayer, spending time in nature, practicing love, gratitude, and compassion, or whatever else feels right for you.
